I work in insurance in London — a trade built on judgment under uncertainty. You weigh what is known against what is not, you put capital behind the answer, and you live with the outcome. That habit of mind has shaped how I look at almost everything else I write about.

I write on three subjects: community (Jewish and British, where they meet and where they don't), artificial intelligence, and insurance and risk. The pieces here are not reporting. They are an attempt to think carefully in public about questions that do not resolve on a news cycle.

Alongside this, I run Scroll & Stone — a personal project: a celebration of the Jewish tribe, its places, objects, food, music and people, told one story at a time. It has its own pace and its own logic. The essays and Scroll & Stone share a family resemblance; they are not the same job.
